Menstrual cup experience! How to insert and remove cup | Where to buy cup online in the Philippines

Hello beautiful ladies,

Today I've decided to write about menstrual cup and how I've felt that It did a pretty good job of saving my life from inevitable feeling of dreading my period when I have a great getaway plan...

Yes!! You heard it right... it is indeed life changing as most of the cup user around the World said it.

My experience:

At first I was hesitant to use it because Im used to using pads all my life and tampons are not even a thing here in the Philippines so what more if I put a bigger cup inside my vajayjay...I bought my cup at Lazada which is the Teamtop menstrual cup but I've heard that you can buy good quality cup at mamaway Shangrila and online at mamalove. I  thought of using this because my favorite youtuber who is Jen from Frmheadtotoe is raving about it and I was curious and so I did some research online before buying it and at the time I watched her video, menstrual cup is not yet available in the Philippines or so I thought since I dont know how to order online at that time yet. A few months ago, I saw this on my facebook feed which was posted by Rappler, Im thinking that It is becoming a thing here so maybe now I can buy this online and I was right, it was available in Lazada but you can only buy the cheaper brands and the high end ones are kinda pricey at mamalove and mamaway. I just bought the cheap one since it is my first time and Im unsure if I'd like using it.

Putting the cup inside;

When I received my cup I was excited to have my period so I can try using it however, when my period came, I didn't know what to do so I did some research again and found preciousstarpads on youtube so I learned that you have to use techniques in puting it in. There is like a teardrop shape or what is called punch down fold since you have to place a finger on side of the rim and punch it down the center. There is also a U-fold technique where you fold the side of the cup together and fold it to form a U or C shape but I prefer the punch down since it is easy to get in with that shape. There is also a 7 fold technique where you fold your cup to the side to form number 7.  Here is the link for better instructions. Once I got it in, I let it open inside and you will feel a slight tap on your V but very tolerable and I twist it just to ensure that it is air tight and is sealed to avoid leaks. 

Removing the cup;

This is the hard part since the cup will have menstrual blood inside it. The technique I use is that I insert my finger and try to reach the rim of the cup to break the air seal and then press the cup to prevent the seal and pull it downwards out of my V. I try to do this carefully since the cup is silicon like rubber and may twitch and bounce causing to splash blood all over you if you let go of the cup accidentally. This is very important to keep in mind as I've heard horror stories about it on youtube.

My verdict;

I will never ever go back using pads eversince I started using cup because I no longer  worry about getting a pad bump when Im wearing leggings. I can even go swimming without worrying and you can wear your undies just like normal days unlike pads where you have to ensure that it fits tight on you or else it will twist and turn so no more back and side leaks with a cup... It is definitely life changing plus the fact that your saving money and environment since you dont have to buy and use pads anymore. It is indeed a great choice if you want to eliminate trash. Cleaning tips;

Your menstrual cup will become smelly after sometime if you just use regular soap and water in cleaning it because there is a tiny holes on the side of your cup that will accumulate bacteria and it will also have discoloration on the side close to the rim. You can put your cup on boiling water and baking soda in a few hours to remove the stinky smell and discoloration....I also saw an article where the cup may look like new if you soak it in hydrogen peroxide 3% in 3-5 hours and rinse with water before use..
